The new year is finally approaching, and I’m already waiting for the “New year, new me!” posts, following with the “You don’t need a new year to have a fresh start!” replies. It happens every year. Don’t think you can escape it.
Everyone wants to better themselves, however, and there is something you can do this next year to better yourself!
Each year, I compile a list of goals that I want to achieve. I consider myself a very goal/task-oriented person. If we’re being honest, I actually feel like I’m in a rut if I don’t have goals or anything to look forward to. Having goals – whether short-term or long-term – keeps you motivated throughout the year and helps you keep track of your accomplishments, no matter how big or small.
My list for 2017 is a little longer than they’ve been in the past, mostly because I’ve already been working towards some of these things, but also because I know I can do it! Don’t limit yourself to just one or two things like “Be a better person” or “travel more.” I mean, don’t get me wrong, those are two awesome things to work on, but get into the specifics! How are you going to be a better person? Where are you going to travel? Are you going to do yoga and meditate every day? Are you finally going to go on that hiking/camping trip with your friends? Make it happen.
These goals sort of glaze over what I want to get out of 2017, but I’ve made detailed plans for each one! For example, taking care of my health means going to the doctor for an annual checkup as well as drinking more water! Make sure to keep your list somewhere close by (your bedside table, in a frame, on your desk, etc) so you can see it every day!
Cheers to a new year and good luck with your goals!
